“More and more women have come to see me not only to increase the size of--but also to lift and shape--their derriere. With age and weight fluctuations, the skin there can sag and become unsightly both in and out of clothes. I have found that by using the body’s own tissues, I can beautifully create a fuller, more shapely buttock.”

Most patients looking to undergo a Gluteoplasty with Dr. Ravi Somayazula have sagging skin or a deflated appearance of their buttocks due to significant weight loss or from natural aging.
The best candidates for this surgery are healthy, non-smoking individuals who have realistic expectations. An ideal candidate does not have any other medical conditions that might impair healing or increase their risk of surgery complications.
All patients are seen approximately two weeks prior to their buttock lift surgery for their pre-operative appointment. During that visit, all surgical consents are signed, photos are taken, and a detailed informational packet is provided with specific instructions for before and after surgery. A complete list of “dos and don’ts” is also reviewed. Patients receive prescriptions for an antibiotic, as well as pain and anti-nausea medications. Be prepared to follow all recommended pre-surgery and post-surgery instructions to ensure your best possible results.
Dr. Ravi recommends stopping the use of aspirin and all other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as Ibuprofen) for at least one week before and after surgery to prevent excessive bruising. Herbs and supplements should also be stopped for at least one week prior to surgery as they can interrupt healing. It is recommended that all patients stop smoking for at least four weeks before surgery and four weeks after surgery to minimize healing complications.
Butt lift surgery is performed under anesthesia. There will not be any discomfort during the procedure itself. Following a butt lift, some soreness is to be expected, but it should diminish within a few short weeks.
We will discuss pain management, physical limitations, and the entire recovery process before your procedure to help ensure you are fully prepared for any post-operative discomfort.
In the days leading up to your buttock lift, you will need to stop taking any medications or supplements that can thin the blood. You will also need to stop using any products with nicotine. We will provide specific instructions, based on your lifestyle choices, in advance of your procedure to help you prepare. We recommend creating a comfortable space at home where you can rest and recover in the days following butt lift surgery. There will be some physical limitations for a few weeks, including limitations on sitting and lying on your backside. It’s a good idea to arrange for help from a family member or friend who can provide you the space you need to simply rest during this time. We will discuss ways to make your recovery space optimally comfortable to help ensure the most rewarding recovery experience.

There are three main types of buttock lift and augmentation:
Fat Transfer (Brazilian Butt Lift)
A fat transfer, also known as a Brazilian Butt Lift, involves fat grafting, or the taking of fat from another part of the body to be strategically injected into the butt for a more lifted look. Excess fat can be taken from the lower back, abdomen, hips, or thighs.
Buttock Implants (Butt Augmentation)
The buttock implant procedure involves the surgical placement of silicon-filled implants into the buttocks, resulting in a more lifted, rounded, and fuller look.
Volumizing Buttock Injections
These injections are focused on giving the buttocks improved volume. This procedure typically involves the insertion of hyaluronic acid in the buttocks to act as a filler for the area, giving it a fuller, more rounded appearance.
Each of these offers specific results and is better suited for different needs. We will help you determine which option is best for your needs during your one-on-one consultation at our comfortable Houston office.
Absolutely! In fact, different buttock lift procedures can even be combined with one another when the situation calls for it. Butt lift is commonly added to mommy makeover surgeries and body lift procedures as well.
No matter the type of butt lift you choose, some results will be instantaneous. There will be some bruising and swelling following the procedure, which will obscure results, but as these things subside, your newly defined derriere will become more and more noticeable. Many people see full results within six to eight weeks, though it can take up to three months in some cases.
Buttock augmentation with implants and fat transfer butt lift are both considered permanent procedures. With proper care, your results should last for years and years to come.
Just like any cosmetic procedure, a buttock lift can come with some risks. Because the buttocks contain many blood vessels and nerves, and if any of these are affected during the surgery, it can lead to health complications such as bruising, injury, or a fat embolism. However, Dr. Somayazula is highly experienced and dedicated to ensuring patient safety and comfort during each procedure. With the proper attention and care, these risks can be easily avoided.
A responsible adult should stay with you for the first 24 hours following surgery. (Some patients may need assistance for several more days.) Dr. Ravi Somayazula also recommends walking several times a day immediately following surgery. In most cases, patients can resume normal daily activities in three to ten days and can likely return to work in two weeks. Other limitations include no strenuous activity or heavy lifting for six weeks. Afterward, activity can be gradually increased. Houston Buttock Lift surgeon, Dr. Ravi Somayazula and his staff are always available to assist you with any questions or recovery-related issues.
The effects of your buttocks lift will be immediately noticeable. There will be some bruising and swelling in the initial weeks while your body heals. Over the next few weeks, the appearance of your buttocks will continue to improve, resulting in a natural-looking enhancement. Dr. Ravi Somayazula’s patients are often thrilled with their shapely and youthful buttocks and are excited to see how their new figure fills out their favorite pair of jeans.
If you’re someone who has always wanted a more lifted look to their buttocks, but find that working out and healthy dieting still can’t help you achieve the look you want, a buttock lift can be hugely beneficial. Not only will this procedure allow for a more lifted look but it can also help increase self-confidence in people who have previously felt insecure about their body previously, resulting in improved patient happiness and satisfaction.
